Grip Fitting Suggestions
GRIP TRACING /
SIZING We
continue to add sizes to our products and are working to add
them to all our products to make it easier to identify and
compare your grip, buttplate and grip cap sizes to ours.
Do not rely solely on model when choosing your grips.
If you are not sure if our grips or buttplates will fit your
gun, please trace your grips or buttplate, locate screw holes on
the tracing and mail it to us for comparison. Do not email
or fax your tracing as the sizes many times get distorted.
Mailing them is the very best method. Enclose instructions
on how you would like to proceed and enclose your email address
and phone number.

FITTING TIP - Thank you Stan for providing this useful
information. After
initial installation with proper orientation and tightening the
grip screw, carefully apply blue painter's tape to the backstrap
up to the edge of one grip in order to protect the pistol's
finish. Use a single-edge razor blade to slowly and
carefully scrape off any excess grip material. Don't work
in one area at a time, but repetitively go over all high areas
until flush with the backstrap. You may need to remove the
tape to inspect, then simply apply new tape and scrape some
more. Once you complete that grip, apply tape to the edge
of the other grip and repeat the process. Remove both
grips, then use very fine, 1200-1500 grit emery paper on the
shaved edges. Polish, by using a small felt buff dampened
with plastic polish in a Dremel tool set to the lowest speed.
SUGGESTIONS FOR
PROPER FITTING
-
We suggest you use a
qualified gunsmith to complete all installations, fitting and repairs.
-
Feel free to contact us
for any questions and support you might need with our products.
-
Please remember that
altered merchandise
cannot be returned for refund or exchange.
-
If your item is warped
in shipping, or if you need a curved piece and the item you have is
flat, simply soak in hot tap water for about 60 seconds until pliable,
then apply to gun and hold in place until cool. Installation of the
escutcheons or screw may also be done while the piece and escutcheon
are warm to prevent cracking.
-
Most of the items are
hand-casted and may be sanded, filed, reamed, drilled or polished (similar to wood) for proper fitting.
Several of the items are
injection molded, and should be grinded or filed…sanding will not
work.
